Welcome to PANCAKE
Paraphrasor for Adjective-Noun-Compounds Aiming at Knowledge Extension

PANCAKE is a paraphrasor for event-based adjective-noun compounds which has been developed in the framework of a student project at the Department of Computational Linguistics, Heidelberg University. The project aims at interpreting these event-based adjective-noun pairs with respect to the event that they are associated with.

An example: If we say that English is an easy language, our goal is to compute what makes this particular language easy. In this case, we find that an easy language is a language that is easy to learn, or, in other words, the easiness of the language is associated with the event of learning.

Our web interface will output whole-sentence interpretations of an adjective-noun-pair. However, the examples that you will be given in our evaluation are generated manually by us. The objective of this evaluation is to review whether there is a correlation between the quality ranking of the events that we have found for a given adjective-noun pair and the human preference of these. This is why we need you to assess their quality.
